![]() Fostoria glass is quite popular as a collectible. There are vast numbers of items that were produced and most have been collected since the time of their production. Fostoria glass has also been reproduced by several other companies as well. These are known as lookalikes, or faux collectibles. To a beginning collector is will be hard to distinguish Fostoria from other companies however there are mold marks that can help you to determine if the Fostoria is genuine. One way is to visit a dealer in genuine Fostoria glassware and see as well as feel the Fostoria firsthand, so that you can know what you are looking for. Another method might be to purchase a book on glassware that is geared toward the more elegant glassware that is available. One good rule of thumb is to remember, if you have a doubt as to the origin of the piece don’t purchase it, particularly if the price is higher. ![]() Serious collectors will want to be sure they are purchasing only authentic Fostoria glassware. Today many of those pieces are priced reasonably and can be collected even in jumble or yard sales. They can be collected even by those who are collected on a limited budget. These pieces are very serviceable and may be used as tableware aside from being simply collector’s pieces. Some look-alike glassware companies who produce Fostoria look-a-likes are American Whitehall & Crystal Cubist. |
